The gear pump is the core component of an oil truck, acting as its "heart" for efficient fluid transfer. It operates via a pair of meshing gears inside the pump body, which work together to create pressure differentials and move oil.

When the drive gear shaft rotates counterclockwise, it turns the driven gear clockwise. This expands the right cavity (suction side) between the meshing gears, lowering pressure and forming a partial vacuum. Atmospheric pressure then pushes oil from the reservoir into the pump’s suction port, filling the gaps between gear teeth.

As the gears rotate, oil trapped in the tooth spaces is carried to the left cavity (discharge side). Here, gear meshing reduces the cavity volume, increasing pressure to force oil out through the discharge port. This continuous suction-discharge cycle delivers a steady oil flow to machinery lubrication points.

This simple, durable mechanism makes gear pumps highly reliable for oil truck use, ensuring consistent performance even in demanding conditions.
